Michael D. Bates

After completing a successful 11-year career in the NFL, in which he was elected to five consecutive Pro Bowls and named to the NFL's All Pro Team of the 90's, Mr. Bates has now embarked upon a second career in the professional sports arena.

 

During his NFL playing days, Mr. Bates developed an extensive network of contacts with numerous scouts, coaches and front office management executives. Additionally, Mr. Bates brings Gameday Financial first-hand perspective and experience regarding the business and life in the NFL.

 

While at the University of Arizona, Mr. Bates was member of the varsity football and track and field teams ('89-'91). In 1990, he was selected to the first team All Pacific 10 Conference football team as a kick returner.

 

Mr. Bates was equally successful as a track and field athlete while in college. He was twice named the Male Outstanding Track and Field Athlete at the Pacific 10 Conference track and field championships, winning both the 100 and 200 meter in 1990 and 1991. Additionally, he is a six-time NCAA track and field All-American. Currently, Mr. Bates holds the University of Arizona school record in the 100 meter (10.17), this time was set at the World Junior Championship in Sheffield, England.

 

In 1991, Mr. Bates made the difficult decision to leave school early to train for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. His hard work and dedication was rewarded, he made the Olympic team and captured the bronze medal in the 200 meter.
